Founded in 1999 by Ron Dyens, Sacrebleu Productions has produced more than 100 short films (mainly animated), which have received over 2,000 festival selections in France and abroad, including Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Sundance, Clermont-Ferrand, Stuttgart, Brest and Hiroshima. Among its most notable works are:

• Barking Island by Serge Avédikian (Palme d’Or 2010)
• Madagascar, a Journey Diary by Bastien Dubois (nominated for the Academy Award® for Best Animated Short Film in 2011)
• Tram by Michaela Pavlátová (selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes and winner of the Cristal for Best Short Film at Annecy in 2012)
• Sunday Lunch by Céline Devaux (Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015 and César Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2016)
• You Will Be Fine by Céline Devaux (selected for the Venice Film Festival in 2017)
• The Fall by Boris Labbé (selected for Critics’ Week in 2018)
• And Then the Bear by Agnès Patron (Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019 and César Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2021)
• Butterfly by Florence Miailhe (Crystal Bear in the Generation Kplus section of the Berlinale, nominated for the 2025 César Awards and the 2026 Academy Awards®)
• Distant Blue by Amir Houshang Moein (selected for the Venice Film Festival in 2026).

May 2025 marked the beginning of Agnès Patron’s new short film, To the Woods, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival as part of Critics’ Week. The film won the Short Cuts Award for Best Animated Short Film at TIFF 2025 and the Grand Prix Anima 2026 for Best International Short Film. It was selected in both the national and international competitions at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

In 2016, Sacrebleu embarked on its feature-length animation journey with Long Way North, which won the Audience Award at Annecy, attracted more than 750,000 spectators in France and was sold in over 20 countries worldwide.

In 2020, Marona’s Fantastic Tale (distributed by Cinéma Public Films) was released theatrically following numerous festival selections (Annecy, European Film Awards, etc.), several awards (BIAF, Reanimania, etc.) and widespread critical acclaim. The film was sold by Charades in more than 15 countries and received the André Martin Award at Annecy before joining the CNC’s École et Cinéma educational programme.

My Sunny Maad by Michaela Pavlátová was released theatrically on April 27, 2022. The film received the Jury Award at Annecy and was subsequently nominated for a Golden Globe. In 2023, it added another major distinction to its track record by winning the César Award for Best Animated Feature Film.

On December 13, 2023, Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds by Benoît Chieux was released theatrically. The film opened the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and won the Audience Award. It attracted more than 267,000 spectators in France.

Following its world premiere in the “Un Certain Regard” section at the Cannes Film Festival, Flow by Gints Zilbalodis won four awards at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival (the Music Award, the Gan Foundation Award for Distribution, the Audience Award and the Jury Award). Sold in almost every country, the film attracted more than 800,000 spectators in France and grossed more than $60 million at the worldwide box office. In 2025, Flow won the Golden Globe, César and Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature Film, becoming the first independent film to win an Academy Award® in this category.

In 2024, Sacrebleu produced its first virtual reality work, Ito Meikyū, directed by Boris Labbé. The work won the Grand Prize at the Venice International Film Festival. Several VR projects are currently in development, exploring themes such as our impact on ecosystems and our relationship with the world of sound.

In 2025, Sacrebleu produced its first TV special, The Song of Storms (26’), directed by Caroline Attia Larivière. The film is broadcast on Canal+, is scheduled for theatrical release in 2027 as part of a programme of short films focusing on the environment, and has received several awards, including the Jury Award at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Numerous feature films, series, TV specials, short films and virtual reality projects are currently in development.
